Nippon Paint Holdings to Reacquire European Automotive Coatings Business from Wuthelam Group for Approximately €47 Million

Buyback follows successful restructuring of the business and is intended to accelerate the group's global automotive coatings strategy.

Nippon Paint Holdings Co., Ltd. recently announced that its Board of Directors has approved the acquisition, as subsidiaries, of shares in its European automotive coatings business, which was previously transferred to the Wuthelam Group. The transaction is valued at €47 million.

According to the company, its mission is Maximization of Shareholder Value (MSV), pursued through its Asset Assembler growth model. Consistent with an announcement made on August 10, 2021, the company determined at that time that a fundamental restructuring of its strategically important India and European businesses was needed to enhance corporate value over the medium to long term. It subsequently transferred the shares of its India business and its European automotive coatings business to the Wuthelam Group, allowing the Wuthelam Group to bear the additional investment, expense, and uncertainty associated with restructuring those businesses in the near term.

Following the transfer, the Nippon Paint Group continued to provide administrative and management support services to the businesses, seconded management personnel, and monitored their financial position and operations, while the companies retained their existing names.
